Installing a WordPress theme
Upload the theme zip, activate it and get past the two errors people usually hit.
- Download the package from your dashboard and unzip it.
- In WordPress, go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme.
- Pick the theme zip from inside the package — not the whole downloaded package.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
“The style.css stylesheet is missing”
This almost always means the wrong zip was uploaded. Upload the theme zip that sits inside the package, not the outer file that also contains the PDFs and README.
“The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize”
Your host limits upload size. Either raise the limit in your hosting panel, or upload the theme folder over FTP into wp-content/themes and activate it from Appearance → Themes.
